Matt Josephson

Principal

Matt Josephson has been a civil litigation lawyer for over 20 years.  Before starting as a lawyer, Matt had worked in the rural and banking sectors.  He holds degrees in arts (History and English), and from Lincoln College in agricultural commerce, as well as banking qualifications.

Matt commenced his legal career at Heaney Jones, a boutique insurance litigation firm, in 1992.   He worked primarily in the insurance area until 2000. In the course of his legal career, he has worked in almost all areas of commercial and civil litigation.

Matt has done a great deal of work in the leaky building and construction areas, working primarily for homeowners to recover the cost of repairing their homes.  He has been closely involved in many of the leading leaky building cases.

Matt has appeared in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.  He has done cases in the Weathertight Homes Tribunal and the District Court, and has vast experience in mediations and arbitrations.  In the High Court, he has conducted trials ranging in length from one week to six weeks, usually acting for plaintiffs.
